Work with me

As a Root Cause Protocol consultant, I will help uncover your mineral imbalances and learn what nutrients you need to address the root cause of chronic health problems. I offer Hair Tissue Mineral Analysis (HTMA) tests and review of Full Monty blood labs.

Enjoying Nature

What is a Hair Tissue Mineral Analysis?

A Hair Tissue Mineral Analysis (HTMA for short) is a non-invasive medical test that measures 20 minerals and toxic metals in your hair. The balance of minerals in your hair gives important information about metabolic status, oxidative stress, adrenal and thyroid function and your specific nutritional needs. This information can be used to restore balance to the body. By balancing your biochemistry, you can unlock healing that is commonly missed by mainstream and alternative health practitioners.

A better approach

As a Root Cause Protocol Consultant, I am trained to use holistic, nature-based solutions for mineral balancing.

The HTMA provides an overview of your health status. This data provides me with a range of information to understand someone's condition, even when there are confusing or complex issues.

Traditional HTMA practitioners attempt to micromanage specific nutrients to find balance. But when just one nutrient, or several specific nutrients, are taken in moderate to high doses, others can fall out of balance - resulting in an endless whack-a-mole approach.

As a Root Cause Protocol Consultant, I am trained to address nutritional needs through a holistic, natural approach using specific food and mineral combinations. We use whole foods, in balanced ratios, to remineralize the body while simultaneously addressing environmental and emotional stressors that may be increasing mineral and nutrient requirements.

Soil quality and nutrient density in food is declining while our body's nutritional requirements are increasing

Modern agricultural practices are rapidly destroying soil nutrients. In a 2004 study, 43 garden crops were analyzed to compare nutritional content in 1950 versus 1999. Calcium, phosphorus, iron, riboflavin, vitamin C and magnesium have all dropped between 25 to 40 percent and more in some places. Trace minerals such as manganese, zinc, copper and nickel have also decreased significantly while toxic minerals like aluminum, lead and cadmium have increased.

Meanwhile, the stress of our busy modern lifestyle - complete with rushing, traffic, environmental toxins, economic hardship, pandemics and more - is increasing our nutritional requirements. Emotional and physical stress is well known to increase our magnesium burn rate, for example.

I take pride in helping my clients source nutrient dense foods so they can overcome the chronic fatigue, immune and inflammatory conditions that go along with this reality.

Why is the HTMA important?

Hair analysis is unique because it is soft tissue and provides information at the cellular level. Blood and urine tests also provide important information but they only evaluate the fluids of the body - which are kept in precise homeostatic control. The body is constantly pulling minerals from the tissue and bones to regulate the blood to keep you alive.

The HTMA gives us a three to four month picture of your average mineral levels, making it useful for detecting chronic imbalances. This test is under utilized - especially by conventional medicine that is based on a disease centered paradigm. Nutritional balancing is a health and wellness centered framework that helps us prevent disease and improve chronic conditions where doctors may otherwise tell us we are healthy because we don't have an end stage disease.

Pioneers like Dr. Paul Eck and Dr. David Watts studied thousands of HTMA reports over decades and identified patterns which serve as inferential models in evaluating body mineral ratio stores and metabolic health.

Oxidative stress is the enemy

Oxygen is great - it gives us life and all. It also gives us inflammation when our bodies are under stress and mineral deficient. That's because it takes minerals to turn 02 into ATP (energy for our bodies). Without the minerals, the oxygen produces free radicals. The resulting inflammation is understood to be the root of all disease.

Common ailments from oxidative stress that the Root Cause Protocol is designed to address:

Chronic infections

Adrenal burnout

Anxiety

Insomnia

Irritable bowel syndrome

Chronic Fatigue

Hormone imbalance

Autoimmune conditions

Weight gain

Heavy metal toxicity

Histamine Intolerance

Examples of topics we will cover in a consultation

  • Are you lacking minerals that are needed to produce energy?

  • Are toxic metals causing you health problems and do you have a currnet exposure that needs to be addressed?

  • Why are your hormone levels dysregulated?

  • Do you have adrenal burnout or insufficiency?

  • Why is your fatigue not responding to iron supplementation?

  • How is stress affecting your health?

  • What vitamins and minerals do you need to rebalance?

  • Are you a fast or slow oxidizer (important for determining your nutritional needs)?

  • Is it safe to become pregnant?

  • What stage of inflammation are you in?

  • Do you need digestive support?

  • Are you in a moldy environment?

  • How to remineralize and follow the Root Cause Protocol with hypersensitivities like histamine intolerance or MCAS?

  • Is it safe to donate blood?

  • Do we need to run additional tests such as ERMI or mycotoxins (for mold) or urine toxin profile by Great Plains Laboratory?

The Full Monty blood panel measures Iron (Ferritin, Serum Iron, Total Iron-binding Capacity, Transferrin, Hemoglobin), Copper, Magnesium, Zinc, Vitamin A and Vitamin D. You can order these labs on your own through Request a Test, here. The order will go directly to Quest Diagnostics or LabCorp (your choice) and all you have to do is show up. It's quick and easy! These labs are optional but can be helpful to review as part of our consultation. See the Root Cause Protocol Ideal Values page for more information.

The Process

Getting started is easy. All it takes is a few snips of hair - for which I will provide detailed instructions. It's easy, painless and I promise, no bald spots!

1. Order

Choose a hair analysis package that works for you and place your order online.

2. Send

We will mail you an at-home hair collection kit and once completed, you will send your hair sample to the laboratory.

3. Discover

You receive your HTMA results within 10-14 days. If you choose to also do the Full Monty panel, you can complete that while waiting for the HTMA results. We will then have a consultation to review your path forward.
